So now we got the choice between Willard and Barack. What’s the difference? One straps dogs to the roof of his car and the other has funny ears. Skin tone is about the same.

Don’t kid yourself. America is about as democratic as Sudan. We live in a two-party dictatorship owned and paid for by corporations.

After having put a few hundred rounds through it my impression so far is (and I’m comparing it to my Springfield XDM Compact 9mm) that it is a crudely made gun (and I say that in the best possible meaning). The XDM feels like a much more finely engineered and tuned pistol. While you’re holding it in your hand and just checking it out. But from the very first shot I fired with it, I was much more accurate than with the XDM. For all its “crudeness” – the Glock trigger has a “rough” feel to it, but it also breaks cleaner and more predictable than the XDM – I am just better able to place the shots where I’m aiming than with the XDM.

I think the main problem with the XDM is the trigger. While it is very smooth, it also has very long pre-travel, an unpredictable break, and a fairly long reset. I ordered and installed (I’m a gunsmith now!) a trigger kit from Powder River Precision in Oregon that greatly improved the feel of the trigger, and also, my groupings at the range, but still not as good as the Glock.

So at this point my heart is with the XDM – I really like the feel of the gun – but my head is with the Glock; I simply shoot it better. I still have some ideas on how I might improve the XDM, though, and haven’t given up all hope. I’ll keep y’all informed.

My comment to this video got a few nasty replies on YouTube, most along the line of “moron, people like to have fun and college is a good place to have it, so fuck you gramps”. It’s also a good place to get an education. Frankly, at this point I’m starting to question the value of an American college degree, everything is so watered down and the average student graduates clueless about anything but partying. These are the kids who will flip burgers for a living five years down the road complaining that they can’t get a job even with a college degree.

America is descending into an idiocracy on so many levels. Hopefully I’ll be dead before we hit rock bottom.

Trayvon Martin, February 5, 1995 – February 26, 2012

Symptom of the Universe. I see some people are exploiting this opportunity to make a 2nd Amendment argument, both pro and con. But this isn’t about guns or the right to bear arms; it’s about the spirit of Jim Crow still haunting the South, it’s about racism, law enforcement misconduct, if not criminal negligence or even an outright cover-up, as well as class warfare.

George Zimmerman needs to go to jail for the rest of his natural life, the entire police force of Sanford fired and investigated, and the rest of us should try to salvage what is left of justice in America.
